OPENING NIGHT: Friday 9 April 2010 - 7pm

The Versus Show hits back with its very unique 4th edition. This collaborative show featuring Kylie Fisk (Brisbane) Vs. Laura Skerlj (Melbourne) promises to intrigue, engage and incite.
These two inspiring female artists have been exploring the land of dreams, the sublime, nature, and ethereal landscapes through their mediums of photography and painting.
Their work is stunning and feminine, the artists themselves coming from backgrounds in psychology and journalism, their work is loaded with intellect, purpose and beauty.
Alongside the artwork the rest of the gallery, for the opening night, will be transformed into an interactive and engaging dreamlike scene; turning the gallery environment into something quite surreal.
Part of the special entertainment will be Hero & Shadow, a new musical project, specifically designed for The Vs. Show. In duo formation-(Madeleine Paige & Arundel), H & S's set will be completely improvised; inspired both by the artwork and the interplay between the musicians themselves. Also featuring Kate Jacobson in her own act - performing some of her sweet alt-country tunes.
Other elements will feature performance, animation and set design sponsored by New House Cinema.
This Versus Show is not only about experiencing the artwork of two talented artists but also basing the gallery environment on the essence of their work.
The ‘versus' concept was spawned in 2008 by artist Mel Baxter (curator CURVY 09, Frankie Hand Drawn & Dane Beesley's New York Buck)

COCKTAIL AFTERPARTY: 11pm - Laruche.

Sponsored by New House Cinema. Moonshine Madness, Joshua Levi Galleries, Marileth Beauty & Cosmetics & Laruche.

The Versus Show is back for it's third (the charm) season. The two artists that have hitched their wagon to this shining star are the spark worthy Rob Scott and Nick Hornum. Bring on the fireworks we say.
The ‘versus' concept was spawned over a year ago by artist Mel Baxter (curator Curvy, Hand Drawn, New York Buck). We got to gabbing with Mel B...

Us: What exactly is a ‘versus show'
Mel B: A versus show is the love child of two artists' mutual admiration and creative collaboration; mixed in with a whole bunch of live art, video installations, sculpture, and live music.

Us: Can we expect something different from this show?
Mel B: The Versus Show II brought you skateboarding in the carpark, decks and photography in the gallery and plenty of tunes and beverages to keep you well out of harms way from the hum drum and the drunken metro brawlers of the valley. The Versus Show III promises the same bundle of visual and auditory fun - but with some home improvement. You'll see two of Brisbane's top emerging artists battling it out for Versus Show Live Art supremacy joined by local artists Georg, Shida, Gus and friends, and of course Nick and Rob's new collection of work in the gallery.

Us: Tell us more!
Mel B:  To put the cherry on top of the pie - there'll be live music from Stemford Hiss man Nick Shields as well as projected short film from Luke Smith.

Us: By George! Let the games begin
